Dr. Kattesh Katti and Shri Anantkumar Hegde Address on Green Nanotechnology
“We are trying to infuse science into Ayurveda,” said Dr. Kattesh Katti, an internationally renowned scientist and Professor of Radiology and Physics at the University of Missouri, USA. Dr. Katti, originally from Dharwad, is also the Director of the Institute of Green Nanotechnology, where his pioneering work has significantly advanced the field of nanomedicine. Dr. Katti was addressing homeopathic doctors and postgraduate students at Bharatesh Homeopathic Medical College (BHMC) on Monday, 24th March 2025, as part of a special lecture on Green Nanotechnology Initiatives at Kadamba Institute, an institution promoted by Shri Anantkumar Hegde, former Union Minister of State, Government of India.
During his lecture, Dr. Katti elaborated on the ground-breaking research being carried out at the Kadamba Institute, where scientists are exploring ways to integrate modern nanotechnology with traditional Ayurvedic principles. He pointed out a crucial challenge faced by these ancient medical sciences-the lack of scientific validation and mechanism-based understanding of how these treatments work at a molecular level. This, he explained, is one of the primary reasons why only about 1% of the global population adopts Ayurveda or Homeopathy.
